Use the following steps to create recovery media for your Chromebook.

1. Insert a 4GB or larger USB flash drive or SD card into your Chromebook. All data will be erased from this flash drive or SD card, so be sure to copy any important files first.
2. Open the browser, then in your address bar type chrome://imageburner and press Enter.
3. The system should detect and have your flash drive or SD card selected. Click Ok.
4. The recovery will begin to download and extract to your flash drive or SD card. You will be notified when the process is complete.

To create a recovery drive in Windows, you will need to install the Google Chrome web browser. With the Chrome browser installed, please follow the steps below:

1. Open the Chrome browser and visit https://chrome.google.com/webstore.
2. In the search bar located to the top left, type chromebook recovery.
3. Locate the Chromebook Recovery Utility, then click Free to the right.
4. Click Add.
5. Click the new App Launcher that was added to your taskbar.
6. Click the Recovery app.
7. After the utility is prepared, insert a 4 GB or larger USB flash drive or SD card into your computer.
8. Click Get started.
9. Click Select a model from a list, then select Acer and then your specific product.
10. Continue following the Chromebook Recovery Utility on-screen instructions. If you are prompted to allow changes, click Yes.
