How to Restore Windows from a Restore Point

This article only applies to: Windows 8

Use the following steps to restore Windows from a restore point:

  1. Press the Windows (Image: icon_Windows8_key.png) key to open the Start screen.
  2. Type Restore Point, and then below the search field select Settings.
  3. Click Create a restore point from the search results.
  4. Click System Restore.

    NOTE System Protection must be on to create a restore point.

  5. Click Next.
  6. Select your restore point, then click Next.

    NOTE System restore will not delete any of your files but any recently installed programs or drivers might be uninstalled.

  7. Click Finish.
  8. Click Yes.

Once the restore is finished the computer will restart. When it loads back into Windows, you will see a message on the desktop stating whether or not the restore was successful.
