Cursorjumps or randomly activates items in Windows
Why does the cursorjump around or randomly activate items in Windows?
When typing it is possible to brush or touch the touchpad, causing the cursor to jump around or even leave the window. To disable the tap-to-click option for the touchpad, please select your operating system and follow the steps provided.
Click the Start button, then select Control Panel.
Select Mouse, then select Mouse Properties or Pointing Device Properties.
Click on the Tapping tab and proceed to step 4, or click on the tab labeled Device Settings and proceed to step 6.
To disable Tap-to-Click while typing, ensure that the box next to Tap off when typing is checked.
Click Apply and then OK.
Click on the button labeled Settings.
To adjust Tap-to-Click while typing:
In the left menu click + next to Pointing.
Below Pointing click + next to Sensitivity.
Click on PalmCheck.
To reduce the area required for tapping, move the slider towards Maximum. To increase the area, you can slide towards Minimum.
If this does not correct the issue, or you would prefer to disable the Tap-to-Click feature completely:
In the left menu click on Tapping.
Ensure that the box next to Enable Tapping is NOT checked.
Click Apply and then OK.
Synaptics:
Open Control Panel.
Click on Mouse.
Select Advanced Features, then click on Settings.
Under Tapping, select Taps and Drags and uncheck the box for Tap to Click.
